Frequently Asked Questions

We meet at the statue of Gregory of Nin (Grgur Ninski), located just outside the Golden Gate of Diocletian's Palace on Ul. kralja Tomislava. Look for our guides with the red cart full of VR headsets. We recommend arriving 5–10 minutes before your scheduled start time.

The full Time Walk experience lasts approximately 80 minutes. This includes a guided walking tour through Diocletian's Palace and the Old Town, plus two carefully crafted VR scenes — one at the Golden Gate and one at the Peristyle — designed to create unforgettable WOW moments where the past comes alive around you.

Children aged 13 and over can fully participate, including the VR scenes with the Meta Quest 3 headsets. Younger children are welcome to join the walking portion of the tour with their family, but won't use the VR equipment. The walking tour itself is family-friendly and engaging for all ages.

Yes. The Meta Quest 3 headsets are designed to fit comfortably over most prescription glasses.

Yes, advance booking is strongly recommended, especially during peak season (June–September). We have a limited number of headsets per group, and tours often sell out 1–3 days ahead. You can book directly on our website.

Our tours are conducted in English.

Most guests don't experience any discomfort. Our VR scenes are designed with comfort in mind: you remain stationary throughout each experience, with no simulated movement, falling, or fast camera motion. The scenes feel more like watching a 3D film around you than playing a video game. If you're prone to motion sickness, vertigo, or migraines, please let your guide know — they can adjust your experience, and you can remove the headset at any time.

You don't — and that's intentional. During the VR scenes, you stay in one place while the historical world appears around you. Your guide will help you safely position yourself before each scene begins. Between VR moments, you walk normally without the headset.

You don't need to learn anything in advance. The Meta Quest 3 controllers are simple, and our guide will walk you through everything before your first VR scene. The experience is mostly about looking around and absorbing the world — no gaming skills required.

Our groups have a maximum of 16 people. This keeps the experience personal, ensures everyone gets proper guidance with the VR equipment, and lets your guide answer individual questions throughout the tour.

When it rains, we either reschedule the tour to another date that works for you, or provide a full refund. The VR headsets are sensitive electronic equipment and cannot be used in rain. If rain is forecast on the day of your tour, we'll contact you in advance to arrange the best alternative.

Unfortunately, the tour is not suitable for wheelchair users. The Old Town of Split, including Diocletian's Palace, has narrow medieval streets that are typically very crowded with foot traffic, plus cobblestone surfaces, uneven terrain, and sections with stairs. These conditions make safe wheelchair access not possible during the tour. If you have other accessibility needs, please contact us before booking and we'll do our best to help.

Time Walk is a Split-based company founded in 2026, dedicated to bringing the Roman history of Diocletian's Palace to life through immersive VR experiences. Our small local team combines licensed Croatian tour guides, AR developers, and 3D artists who care deeply about historical accuracy and storytelling. We're a registered Croatian business (Time Walk d.o.o.) operating directly in the heart of Split.
